We are honoring the Creator by opening up, acknowledging the ideas that are sparkling within us. We are seeing the seeds of growth spring up and bud into songs, drawings, paintings, dances, scripts, poems! It is important at this point to address Skepticism – the voice that would discount beginning breakthroughs as insignificant, or disassociate them with the things that we are doing to encourage the process (i.e. morning pages, artist date, creating a safe internal environment). This voice must be silenced!
The Scripture says, “Who [with reason] despises the day of small things? (small beginnings)” Zech. 4:10 Wisdom sees, acknowledges, protects, enjoys, and validates the small beginnings in our selves and in each other knowing that if we nurture these they will flourish!
If we are serious about advancing and growing we must begin to make emotional space for creative expression. This is accomplished by disciplining our minds. First we must to let go of the past. As believers all our pain, sin and regret is nailed to the cross, buried in the tomb with Christ. We are new creations, raised to life with Him by the Spirit. Dwelling in the past robs us of creative energy. We must live in and enjoy our present. Projecting future scenarios is equally fruitless. Even simple things like dreading a conversation, projecting what life will look like if ________ continues is a time stealing, illusionary activity. Illusionary because the future is never like we imagine it to be. There are always unexpected turns both positive and negative. Only God knows the future, so my “day dreaming” on it only wastes valuable brain space. . . Letting go frees emotional space for creative thoughts, melodies, visions.
If we let go and free up emotional space what do we focus on? What do we think about? We are to train our senses to enjoy the beauty around us. It is vital to enjoy the present moment! Here is a simple exercise you can try: When you are the listener in a conversation or meeting study the speaker, appreciate all the subtle things about their face, eyes, smile, voice, body that make them unique and beautiful. Appreciate the nuances of their personality, humor, thinking process and talk to God about how creative He is to have made this one-of-a-kind human masterpiece, so rare, so exquisite!
Solid food is for the mature who have their senses trained by practice to discern good from evil. Heb. 5:14
Finally brother, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think on these things! Phil. 4:8
This week:
1. Work on training your senses.
2. Continue on with writing your affirmations 10x, watching for “blurts”, then working out those blurts in the next day’s morning pages.
3. Five more affirmation:
a. Through the use of a few simple tools, my creativity will flourish.
b. My creativity leads me to truth and love.
c. There is a divine plan of goodness for me.
d. There is a divine plan of goodness for my creativity.
e. As I listen to the Creator within, I am lead.
Have fun!
